    Ooh nice one ... :)

Let see if I can get this right for the British side of the equation. There was an element of the 52nd Troop Carrier Wing under 38th Group RAF. 315 Group left from Boreham Airfield, 316 Group from Wetherfield Airfield and 61 Group from Chipping Ongar Airfield. (I take the 61 Group to actually be the 61st Troop Carrier Squadron which was part of the 314th Troop Carrier Group).

I'm sure your booklet goes into much finer detail. My Father was with 7 Para and from what little I know they left from Boreham. It says on a "Form B Parachute" document his aircraft number was 229 and it gives the same number for the serial (if that makes any sense?).

    Anyway quite interesting ... :)

Wonderful Steve, thanks! I'm sure it will be of great interest to a few other members on here as well. It looks like I got it mostly right except for the serial bit. I have a possible lead on his aircraft and crew for D-Day, although it's still a bit speculative at this time. On Varsity he was lead out and just stood there with green on uttering a few choice words para-style to the crew until they were closer to the intended drop zone ... :P

    Cheers ...
