I noticed today on the After The Battle website that one of their quarterly magazines covers these murders.
    Cheers Drew.

It was written by Carl Rymen. I am now in contact with Carl and he has passed on alot of info to me about the 6th Airborne, including a pdf of the article he wrote. If you want a copy I will send it to you.

Thanks for the offer but all though I'm interested in War Crimes against British Soldiers mine interest is during 1940.

Can you post the pdf on here for other members or is that naughty? ;)

Herouvillette, where we harboured after crossing quietly, ready for Goodwood offensive. There we met the deadliest enemy. Mosquitoes in their thousands and they caused great damage. The enemy knew we had arrived for they shelled the area that night. spot on.Though they did not do a lot of damage.

The murder of our men was not an isolated instance. I am sure that their actions caused even more casualties amongst their own men.

Have just coe acrosss this site and found this thread. I am the grandson of CQMS John Isaacs who is buried in Herouvillette (KIA 6 June 1944). Does anyone have any information linking his death to the murders of allied servicemen in Herouvillette?

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum.

I have some of the War Crime Investigation Units files somewhere on my hard drive on these murders. I'll have a look later tonight for him but drop me a message in a few days if I've not got back to you.

    Cheers

Thanks for getting in touch! I know it was a long time ago but if anyone is able to shed some light on events in/around Herouvillette on 6 June 1944 I would be very grateful. I have just returned from a visit to the graves in Herouvillette with my father (also John Isaacs, the son of CQMS John Isaacs) and although he tried to do his own research years ago, pre internet, he has never got to the bottom of it. My father is now 80 and I know he would like to see if anyone could shed any light on events in Herouvillette on 6 June 1944.

Thanks for that Drew. Just looked at casualties in Herouvillette. 11 paras there, all down as 6th june deaths. Does anyone have the names of the alleged murdered men?

Hi - My father was Private Dennis Russon killed and buried at Herouvillette, and believe it or not I have only recently found out about all of this action. My mother would never talk about the war so I could never seem to find out exactly what happened. My son Neal is very interested in WW1 and WW2, especially as his grandfather Dennis has been talked about by myself for so many years. He is trying to find out more information and seems to be having more success than me and seems to think that my father was one of the five in the car. although I was always under the impression that he was killed in the air. I don`t know !!! I am absolutely gobsmacked at the information we have gleaned so far, and we will keep trying to find more, so I would be more than pleased to hear from anyone who has more information.

    This is spooky !!!!!

    Many thanks - Maggi
