Where is this place? I'm not sure what caused the crash but found this note on Pinterest: Bf 109G-6/AS W.Nr. 441 139 ,YELLOW 7, Uffz Rudolf Strosetzki, 6./JG 11, Tilly-Sur-Seulles, 7 June 1944. The Imperial War Museum also indicates Tilly-sur-Seulles, but the Library and Archives Canada names the location as Beny-sur-Mer. The turf behind the crashed German fighter looks manicured, like a park. The aero engine was soon removed and taken away as the pictures show. To get a little insight into the conditions at that time, a short statement of the pilot from an interview of 6.8.1993, quoted from: Prien/Rodeike, Jagdgeschwader 1 und 11, Teil 2: 1944, p. 955 Thus on 20.5.1944 at II./J.G. 11 there were due to the reported weather situation, which was not expected to allow any operations during the next two days should permit, a "celebration". The fighter pilot Rudolf Strosetzki remembered the surprising redeployment mission the next morning: "With the help of a lot of coffee, they then tried to 'beef us up' to some extent. 'to get up' to some extent, before we went on our way (...) after the start of the alarm. (...) After two pilots forgot to retract the landing gear; all shouting over the radio did not help, because they had not switched on the radio at all, because it was so loud with its constant cracks and the sharp noises, it would have disturbed the already heavy head at most".
Crash site should most likely be between Moncreux-en-Bessien and Tilly-sur-Seulles on the road D6 After a little search I found the decisive clue - not surprisingly - in this forum: Nr. Bayeux or Tilly Sur Seulles - could anyone help further identify where these Sherman tanks are?
