My wife was looking at Facebook and showed me a photo of Maurice Chevalier the pre war 2 french singer entertainer the photo of him was taken in France in the 1930s what amazed me and triggered my interest is the lady who is sitting next to Maurice Chevalier in the photo the lady with the black hat on,unless i am mistaken the lady i think could well be Nancy Wake i feel sure it has to be Nancy Wake because the ladys resemblance to Nancy Wake is to striking i feel for it to be any one else.Nancy Wake was living and working as a journalist in paris and also traveled to other areas of France during the 1930s as a journalist during the period the photo was taken and was well known as a lady who was well known for taking part in french cafe culture.i think this photo may be a unrecorded photo of Nancy Wake taken before WW2 during which she became one of the very early members of the french resistance and later became a SOE agent in France who parachuted into France just before d day ,see the photo and see if you think its her. as you will know Nancy Wake was known as the white mouse a name the gestapo gave to her after they realized just how much trouble Nancy Wake could be to them, and how difficult it became for them to catch her, they even placed a bounty of 5 million french franks on her head.Nancy Wake went on to be i think the most decorated woman who fought in ww2 its been point out to me by another member that the photo was taken at the Bar du Soleil in Deauville in summer 1934 by Roger Schall and the title of the photo is Maurice Chevalier at the Bar du Soleil in Deauville summer 1934 © Roger Schall i did not know who the photographer was or the title of the photo because the photo was placed on Facebook by a member of a Facebook group. The Facebook group the photo appeared on is called Golden age of travel 1830 -1955

many thanks for the information regarding who the photographer was who took the photo there dosent seem to be any one esle who is named in the photo. The fact that it was taken by roger schall a early photoreporter makes me wonder even more that the lady in the photo could well be nancy wake as she was also working as a journalist at the same time as him in france so she may well of known him at the time
