Hi Kris, ran his name through Scotlandspeople website, only one birth and one marriage entry for that exact name. Using the free search engine I believe he was born in 1926, so his birth register entry is not viewable on line due to the 100 year rule. You would be able to order his birth certificate if you were struggling to find his exact date of birth to apply for his service record (costs approx £9). But then again, you might have his service number, which MOD can also use to search for his record.
