Question concerning pontoon bridge

Discussion in 'Weapons, Technology & Equipment' started by Peter Van Caneghem, Jan 2, 2023.

  1. hello everyone,

does anyone have more information of the pontoon bridge visible in the photo below. What is the official name of this bridge?

I am particularly looking for drawings with dimensions of this type of bridge. The end goal is to make a 3d model of this type of pontoon bridge.

in hope to receive an answer.
    regards
    Peter

    FBE Raft, Class 5, MkIII.

Full details can be found in several wartime publications. I have a reproduction of Rafting and Bridging. Miltary Training Pamphlet No74. Part III, Assault Crosiing Equipment. 1944. This was published by Groucho Publishing in the Netherlands some twent years ago. It has full details, drawings and measurements.

Unfortunately I do not have the means to copy the relevant pages at the moment.

    Good luck with your project.

    Mike.

Temujin never fails to amaze me! Thats the one.

MLRS have a large catalogue but material is only available as downloads which cannot be printed. I have quite a few items from them

Sounds like this might be the diagram you mentioned.

  8. Thanks everyone for the info, it will definitely come in handy.

Question for Gary... To start with thanks for the technical drawing, this was the item I was looking for. Do you maybe have the ability to forward a higher resolution version of the drawing? I am having problems drawing it correctly in illustrator as the file is too small. If not, no problem, I will try to make the best of it. Thanks in advance.

greetz to all of you and thank again,

    Peter

Peter, I've tried sending you the image as a conversation via the form. The scan does open up in a new tab at full size when using right click.
