Hi all, I'm trying to find information on RAF air search and rescue squadrons/flights operating between India-Burma-Sumatra region in 1945. I am however struggling to determine the structure they worked on, i.e. one "regular" Liberator squadron seemingly had its own Catalina ASR flights, whilst other lib squadrons didn't. And my keyword bingo on google has not been successful. Could anyone advise me on the ASR structure used in SEAC in 1945, squadron/flight numbers, or any other general advice to narrow down the haystack? Ultimately I'd like to find the overlapping ORB's of the ASR squadrons involved in the search for a missing Liberator and understand more about what was involved in such missions. But am also now curious in the general (nascent?) ASR setup used by the RAF at the time in that theatre. Thanks

The one squadron in SEAC that was equipped with both the Catalina and the Liberator from Dec 1944 was 321 (Dutch) squadron. No. 321 (Dutch) Squadron RAF - Wikipedia
Check out the source for this thread: RAF & USAAF WW2 aircraft crashes in the now UAE which refers in part to air sea rescue in the Gulf of Oman in 1943, where the mix was of Catalina and other aircraft.
