Thank you very much for posting these Recce Mitch. I have found the records for R.K. Williams most useful. Chotie's Daughter
Hello All, Paul - could you tell me what these lists are used for in research please? Is it possible to tell where any of these people were posted? I can see a few that might be 46th Recce, but I don't know what to do next about that Regards, Diane PS. I was looking for a list of 46th Recce Officers in Tom's Recce Journals, but couldn't find one. Do you know of one?
Basically the lists track an Officers promotions etc. They don't show postings. For a Nominal Roll of Officers your best bet is the 46 Recce War Diary which don't have as yet. Cheers Paul
Still looking at these. I see that there are two sections - Territorial Army and Regular Army Emergency Commissions. Does Territorial Army mean the officers are in the UK? And that the others ones are abroad? Also, in the Territorial Army section, some have 'Terr Res' next to their names. Does that mean they are in the uk and don't have a posting at the moment? Thanks, Diane
For an explanation on the Territorial Army see this link https://en.wikipedia...United_Kingdom) Cheers Paul
Ew, that's complicated and I don't really get it. The issue of conscription is confusing the issue for me I think. In the context of ww2, and in a nutshell, what's the difference between officers in the territorial section and regular arm sections of the lists? Diane
No difference except that the lists indicate which part of the Army the Officer was in TA or Regular so they were posted to where-ever needed. TA res means they are no longer active with the TA and either left the TA or were called up from the Reserve list. Cheers Paul
