    Thought there may be something strange about this as the date is prior to the Japanese landings.

    Gunner James Cuerden, killed in action at Kuala Kangsar, body never recovered, on 23.12.1941.

    CWGC do have the correct date on the gravestone registration but not the initial search page.

    Harkness,

    On the 4th file you uploaded, ss/330/141/269 Page 10, all the names have NR next to them.
    I keep coming across these handwritten initials on repatriation lists, but have yet to understand what it stands for.
    Have you any idea?

    No, afraid not. There are no headings in the originals which could give a clue.

    Hi, I am James Cuerden's great nephew, I stumbled across this thread whilst looking for information regarding my Granddad's (James's brother) military history.
