Morning all, I’m curious to know if it’s possible to search for casualties of this unit and how to go about it. The CWGC website allows you to search by REME however I cannot find a way to narrow the search to men of this unit. Does anyone have any advice or tips?
    Thanks,
    Hoody

I'm sure other people will have better ideas, but if I was looking I'd do the search by REME then use the download result option and take it out into excel and then search in that - good luck with it whatever way you do it

I had a quick try and found 2106 REME names listed, extracting that and searching for "26th" I got 2 hits (1 was workshop and 1 was just attached to 26th Armoured brigade - not sure if that by default is the workshop) - searching for "26 a" got no hits

    the 2 names are

    2049274 Albert Ward
    2048602 Robert Davies

Thank you so much, I would never have found that technique in a million years and yet it’s so simple! I’m heading to see the diaries of the 26th soon so was wanting to find some key dates and this has helped massively, thanks again!

The war diaries may contain appendices that include 'casualties' of various types - so make sure you look for them

Where did you access the diaries of the 26th Armour? What diaries did they have as there are many regiments within the 26th and the nd Lothians and Border Horse are kept in Edinburgh.

There are War Diaries for Brigade level (as well as for the individual units which served under the formation).

These are the ones I could find, held at TNA, Kew for :
