    Hi Everyone!

I have been asked by Bill Adlam's daughter to research his military career in WW2. He had the unique characteristic of being at Dunkirk with 5 Glosters; Dieppe with 4 Commando and D-Day with 2 Glosters. He was also on the Lofoten Raid.

He was the first TA soldier to win a MM, which was during the phoney war. He was in the bayonet charges at Ledringhem. He became a Commando instructor at Achnacarry and worked closely with Lovat.

Would love to hear from anyone with an interest in either the Glosters or 4 Commando.

    Regards...

    Jeff Steel

    Hello and welcome Jeff

Have the family got a copy of his service records? Have you already got, or are you interested in sections of the relevant War Diaries?

    regards

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Have you read The Forgotten Massacre? Whilst nearly all of the book is dedicated to the massacre at Wormhout there a nice bit in it about 5 Glosters at Ledringhem and a map of who was where during the fighting IIRC.

Let me know if you want a copy of the original MM Citation-don't pay the £3.50 ;)
