Rijnwijk, the well known small housing block hard to the east of the perimeter around the Arnhem Bridge, no longer exists. Rijnwijk, dating from 1927/8, was especially known for its striking small gateway that gave access to the housing block and was used as shelter by elements of the Panzer Company Mielke during the fight to retake the Arnhem bridge. In October 2022 the housing block has been torn down to make place for new town development. https://www.gelderlander.nl/arnhem/...arbeidersbuurt-is-nu-echt-verdwenen~a0742257/ Post-war aerial of Rijnwijk (right foreground); to the left is the old Coberco Milk-factory complex: Three new areas of apartment blocks are developed to the east of the Arnhem Bridge: Coberco-kwartier (the old Milk factory site), Rijnwijk and Fluvium.
