    I am looking for any detail that anyone may know about this unit in WW2 Egypt with the MEF. Middle East Forces.
    I have the detail for documents at Kew but would like to know if there is anything else I could try at the moment.

    Thank you for that.
    Just one name on there from 169 that I can see, A L/Corporal Lalee from Astley Bridge.

    The documents from Kew will be your best bet. I am looking for details on my cousins husband who was in one of the Railway units as a welder, but details so far have been very few and far between

    One of our members sent me this as its his website - Railway . One of the main problems so far is did he work in Maintenance (Stock or track) Construction (new or old repair) its a real labyrinth

    I also need to add that the 2 units War Diaries he was in are noted as being in Burma during 1944, then in NW Europe for 1945 and 1946

    Don't know if this helps but according to my records;

    "169th RW Cons coy RE- served in Italy 1943-45. Relocated to Egypt following the war as 169th RW WS Coy RE"
