    Major (temporary Lieutenant-Colonel) John Frederick Carroll, Infantry, was made an Officer of the British Empire, for conspicuous industry and good work in creating the important staff duties directorate in Army H.Q. during the most difficult period of expansion of the Eastern Army.

    He was born in Dublin.
