Same medals different seller ?

    Browsing through a well known auction site I came across these :-

    Hi Kyle

    The answer may be in the first one "BRAND NEW MEDALS AND RIBBONS. ( REPLACEMENTS)."
    If they are replacements as suggested then maybe he applied for replacements as he had lost/misplaced the originals, only for them to be found later.
    The thing is with WW2 British medals, none of the campaign ones are named, it would be easy to make a set up.
    His service record may reveal the answer.
    Top one is way overpriced anyway.

    Cheers Robert I noticed the `replacements` have official boxes ? Maybe stolen recovered and submitted a crime number to have them `officially` replaced , Still cannot understand two different sellers selling what appears to be an identical lot apart from one has the service record . Thanks again

    That's... odd... isn't it...
    Because after ten minutes of staring, I'd say they were the same item.
    Though... after further staring, maybe the hackle is higher on the first?
    Very very very hard to be certain based on a couple of Internet pics.

    It's not impossible that siblings had a couple of frames made up at the same time of their father's awards. One had the original boxes and replacement medals and the other perhaps the original medals.

    It's a bit odd that they should both end up for sale at the same time, but the first lot is so expensive for a set without any gallantry awards that it may have been on sale for years ?
