Hello Stolpi, He has this one due to be published 20th August (UK link below) https://www.amazon.co.uk/SAS-Occupi...=Gavin+Mortimer&qid=1592222410&s=books&sr=1-1 He has written many more books about the SAS which may be of interest to you too. And indeed, where the heck has your post gone? Very strange! Kind regards, always, Jim.
Posts have been redirected to another thread - as are yours. The book you point out is the one I ordered. It will appear in next August. But the Amazon description says there are two volumes: this one focuses on 2nd SAS. So I assume there is another one dealing with 1st SAS? Cannot find it though.
I think (happy to be proved wrong!) that his publishers publicity re the book due to be published in August this year may be counting this as "Volume One" as it does cover SAS in France (much from the 1st SAS perspective) https://www.amazon.co.uk/SAS-World-.../ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr= See you on the other thread Stolpi! Kind regards, always, Jim.
Scarabs and Scorpions, follows the SFs throughout the Desert War, Layforce, The Rommel Raid, SAS, SBS, includes reports and whatnot and at times it shows that they wasnt the happy bunch that were claimed to be. Includes the French SAS, ILRP and much more. At times it might go against some of what has become the accepted but I believe it tells a truer story, I clues quite a few Nominal Rolls and where possible who was on each raid or operation, fair bit on Operation Agreement but mainly from the view of the MEC. This is an unpublished PDF. Alan
Yet to find a book with any mention of my dad, Cpl Raymond William Barr 2SAS 1942-45 *sigh*. He must have been double under the radar..!
Michael, Most soldiers never appear in a book, unless they get a medal or similar. Even more so for such specialist formations. Add in how many variations of your father's name could be used.
