    Hi,

Does anyone have any evidence of the SBS (Raiding Force). Primarily the men of M Sqn participating in the Battle for Monte Cassino?

My question revolves around some of the statements of my own Grandfather about Monte Cassino and I've also been in conversation with another SBS Man's Family whose record also indicates their involvment within M Sqn (OP TENAMENT July 44 etc) whilst stating their particpation in the Battle for Monte Cassino.....

My reserach indicates that L & S Sqn were active in the Aegan during the period of Monte Cassino and M Sqn only being reported as operationally active in the Aegean (Sporades Islands) from June 44 (Cpt Lee's & Bimrose recon missions being the first active engagements).

An intial google search indicates the particpation of at least some sections of the 2nd Battalion SAS participating, however no mention of the SBS, but with two verbal accounts is it possible that men of M Sqn may have been seconded to the SAS during this period?

Any guidance or information would be hugely appreciated

    Ben
