January 3 1945 - from Revd. Leslie Skinner - The Man Who Worked on Sundays... 'Up early-moved to Schimmert to take over from 4/7th R.Dragoons. Not a good village, but I got a good billet in Rectory. Then had to move out again as housekeeper has diphtheria. Moved in with Doctor in a poky little place. Dining at RHQ as a mess once again - change from living rough off the truck. Called at Essex Yeomanry on way to Schimmert. Wrote Etta. Still no mail. Bed early. Rather tired' -
