Tony just a thought do V.A.D nurses not get recognised by the CWGC because Dorothy isn't included.

    Regards Mike.

Edit Just searched CWGC and yes they do recognise V.A.D nurses so has Dorothy been missed ?

Dorothy Fisher is one of those who is probably going to be put forward for war grave recognition. I am in my pit with a stinking cold so will have a look at my notes tomorrow.

What my notes have is the following on Dorothy Fisher

She was a member of VAD, but nothing on her record card at the Red Cross archive that says she was attached to the military. Her probate gives an address in London where she died.

At present I cannot put her forward for recognition without proof of a military connection

I hope your contact comes up with something Chris so that Dorothy will be remembered but if not she is remembered here, and I may also do a thread on her memorials and headstone so she will not be forgotten.

Haven't got around to researching her yet, she is in my pending file. However I found a Dorothy Helen Fisher, Civilian War Dead, Reported by Portsmouth Borough - Obviously not our Dorothy.

Seems to be a good difference between CWGC date of death - Oct 1943 and the registration of her death Dec 1943??
