How exciting, lots of these popping up in my new garden, and Wimbledon has already been on the blower making enquiries, but the slugs will doubtless have them all, loads of the little bleeders around now as it’s just been so wet.
Damned hot yesterday but managed to catch up a bit. Had to wait until the Green bin was emptied today to do more weeding. Should never have sold that Kukri. Stiff as a board today. The Bird table is gone after many years service. More room for the granddaughter to play when they visit us. Grassed over the flower bed more room for the dog to play Off to buy more grass seed to fill in gaps in the lawn. More rain this week apparently.
It recently sprung a bit of a leak here (not my pics - taken off the local FB group) First pic is one of the main roads out of the town
I know it’s still January, still winter, but today the sun is shining, the birds are belting out their tunes, things are happening in the garden - it really did feel like something was in the air, just felt like a spring day. Sadly, I also realise how much weeding I will need to crack on again with soon.
Definitely something in the air this morning...Mist and Fog. It took a while but when it cleared, is was just like Spring. Had the trees cut today, after 5 five hours the garden was much lighter than it has been for a few years. Misty start Clearing Looks like spring Garden is much brighter now, awaiting Spring Lawn now needs attention. Planting troughs will be filled with Germaniums, currently in the Greenhouse. The dog made sure that all was done well.
I read through the last three posts and thought.................what on earth are these guys talking about.....................then this morning at about 5.30am I was awoken by the strongest of birdsong dominating the airwaves..........even against the background rumble of the first few flights landing at Heathrow. Perhaps the first thoughts of spring have sprung?
I took these photographs Saturday 26-01-25 in our local Churchyard. My Grandfather was the Head Gardener at the large house of the Lieutenant Commander. Garden Parties etc during the Summer months.
Defo snowdrops, these little fellas: Snowdrop - Plantlife Do like a petunia, mind, great in the tubs and hanging baskets.
I know we're not quite in spring yet, but this morning with the pooch, on a cold and frosty walk, was absolutely lovely.
