Maybe another connection to France with this possible birth of John Samuel Barnshaw
    Name: John S Barnshaw
    Registration Quarter: Jul-Aug-Sep 1925
    Registration District: Northwich
    Inferred County: Cheshire
    Mother's Maiden Name: Rougsmont
    Volume Number:
    8a
    Page Number: 375

Hopefully either of the parents will have the initials E.A.
There are no other births of children to a mother called Rougsmont, nor a Barnshaw/Rougsmont marriage in England & Wales 1916 onwards.

Hello ! I personally knew John Barnshaw in Bourg-en-Bresse in the 60s when I was a teenager. He was a friend of my father. He lived in Bourg-en-Bresse after the Second World War. He married Anne-Marie Ferry from Cerdon which is a village in the Jura mountains, but in the department of Ain. They had two daughters, Florence and Caroline. He spent the war in Ghana which was then called Gold Coast. If I'm not mistaken, his parents came to France before the Second World War because his father was a doctor and he worked in the sanatoriums of Hauteville in the department of Ain. I seem to remember that he had a sister who died accidentally shortly after the war.

I remember the discussions between John Barnshaw and my father, that he had crossed the Swiss border to go to the English recruiting office in Geneva, and that is how he ended up in the Gold Coast. I found a list in the archives of the State of Geneva in which he is mentioned.
