    Good Evening,

I have had a wonderfully bizarre day! While on a local area Facebook page a lady posted some pictures of a tatty Boys Brigade Membership Card that she had found in with her late fathers Medals.

On closer inspection I discovered that the Membership Card belonged to my Great Grand Uncle - Alexander Mathieson Clark.

The membership card is handwritten and the 'address' is Tarmarken POW Camp Thailand. It has all his home details date of birth etc.

Thanks to Google I have managed to find a Form M I 9/JAP that Alexander has filled in giving details of when he was capture and the camps he was held.

I havent found anything on Ancestry or Forces war record sites :/

Is there likely to be anymore info available? If so where should I be looking?

I have made a public folder to share the pictures of the Membership Card and Questionnaire

    Kind Regards

    Hi Christine,

Congratulations on your brilliant discovery, to be honest you have found out a great deal very quickly. The questionnaire shown on your Facebook page is held at the National Archives, Kew, London. Also held there are documents known as Japanese index cards, there would almost certainly be one for Alexander. The file series is WO345 with the cards collated in boxes chronologically.

Alexander's card should be in box WO345/11 names Cleggett - Cook.

Here are his details from the Cofepow website database, which show his date of capture as 15/02/1942, this is a classic date for the surrender at Singapore.

    Best wishes
