    Hi everyone,
I am researching the above soldier:-
    LANCE CORPORAL
    RICHARD M. A. RIDGE
    Service Number: T/14398433
Regiment & Unit/Ship - Royal Army Service Corps
Date of Death - Died 10 April 1945
    Age 21 years old
Buried or commemorated at TURNHOUT COMMUNAL CEMETERY
    Row 2, grave 7.
    Belgium
Country of Service - United Kingdom
Additional Info - Son of John and Mary Elizabeth Ridge, of Caergwrle, Flintshire.

I cannot find anything out about where he was on the day he died, or what sort of Unit he would have been in, within the R.A.S.C. The British Overseas War Deaths (Army - Other Ranks) 1939 - 1945 doesn't add anything and the Casualty List just states that he "Died."

The sad thing is his brother, Sydney Robert RIDGE died 2 days earlier in Germany, on the 8th April 1945 and their names are next to each other on the The British Overseas War Deaths (Army - Other Ranks) 1939 - 1945:-

    Commonwealth War Graves Commission
    LANCE SERJEANT
    SYDNEY ROBERT RIDGE
    Service Number: 2735119
    Regiment & Unit/Ship - Welsh Guards 1st Bn.
Date of Death - Died 08 April 1945
    Age 25 years old
Buried or commemorated at RHEINBERG WAR CEMETERY
    12. J. 6.
    Germany
Country of Service - United Kingdom
Additional Info - Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ridge; husband of J. M. Ridge, of Upton Lovell, Wiltshire

I know that he should be and probably will be on the correct Forum at some future time, but added this as it is so poignant.

Any help to tell his story on the day he died would be gratefully received.

    Regards, Mavis Williams
