Excellent piece of research and the end product is something to treasure, you should be rightly proud and what a lovely present.
Congratulations, Its always good to follow the instinct to research and then publish a document such as this. Rewarding, satisfying and life affirming. Sylvia
Thanks everyone. Parnel, I can do a reasonable amount of things well but knitting is not one of them!!! Thanks Sylvia - it is not for publication but you are right about it being rewarding. Dave
Well done Dave. A fantastic thing to have done to honour your Grandfather. Happy New Year to come. Regards - Rob
Dave, Your Grandfather would be extremely proud of you and I am sure that all your Family are just as proud in what you have researched, written and produced. The end product is a wonderful Tribute, not only to your Grandfather but all in the Airborne Services that paid the ultimate Price for our Freedom. Very well done indeed. Regards Tom
Dave, After what you've achieved there, knitting would be a piece of cake! Your mum has set you the challenge and.......... Nihil Impossibilis Est.
Reading this again, and slightly shiftily covering up my 'I Hate People' T-shirt while feeling an uncommon rosy glow. If anyone asks why we exist, as a forum, and mix of ever so slightly OCD WW2 obsessives... This is why. Right here. Happy Christmas, New Year, Hanukkah, whatever, to all of you.
Parnel, I cannot see the Tilshead Guards leading volunteers in a course of "knit one, pearl one" but I will give it a shot!!! My primary school teachers would be proud - knitting was the only subject for which I received poor comments. The joys of a mixed school. Thanks Adam. I have one of those t-shirts too, but have seldom found use for it on this forum. As I mentioned I doubt this would have been achieved without direct help and/or encouragement from the other members and from reading posts made by others from before I found this place. It is rare to meet such a large group of selfless people who are willing to give their time so freely. Thanks to all of you for all your comments and/or rep. I am chuffed to say the least, and encouraged to start a new project in the new year and hopefully help others with theirs. And to anyone who is lurking about and not signed up I would say, just shout "Wahoo Mahommed" and jump in. However good it looks from the outside, you get a lot more by participating. Dave
