    Just out of curiosity what was the equipment used in 1944 to make outdoor sound recordings?

    I remember seeing a film of a BBC man using a cumbersome looking machine at Arnham for recording, it was a large flat disk, old 78 size, made of wax and he had quite a job keeping the awarf away from the cutting needle. I believe there was a primitive wire recording machine too. But don't rely on me...

    Thanks for that Jim. I had been thinking that if any recordings like Brian has had been made then it would have been the BBC who would have recorded them.
