I would expect that legal costs and potential damage payments incurred by Ofcom in relation to eg law suits against OSA administration would be charged back to all service providers under the model in the form of a fee increase smeared across all of them.

I do however doubt that Ofcom (ie the UK as a sovereign) would accept any judgement against it in a foreign court lying down. So this could get spicy, as US entities and courts have form, if they don’t apply the sovereign exemption.

We are however about a million miles away from that point.

My understanding is that Ofcom will have written rules and guidelines on how to administer and enforce the OSA internally with no or little recourse to parliament or DCMS.

Seriously, though, what a complete pile of sh**e all this is.

 

Apparently Germans like paying in cash rather than using contactless cards - the BBC World Service said so - and I agree with them. The credit checks in the US work off publicly available information. Car loans, etc. You don't have to be in debt to have a positive credit check here.

I recently bought my first smart phone, failed a credit check in the Vodafone shop....computer says no, says the salesperson.

What do I do now? ....I ask.

Went six doors down to O2 and credit check says...why not! And phone is acquired.

 

I do have this but still undecided on firing it live due to the following.
1 Is the barrel proofed Highly unlikely
2 Not worrying about point 1. The said explosion of the barrel would cause extensive damage to my surroundings and self.
3 If barrel proved to be proofed and the propellant used was sufficient enough to propel the ball bearing I have a live firearm. Although at a push using it with an Airfix tank diorama could possibly be called reenactment and reduce the prison sentence to a couple of years.
