    Indeed it is.

    Sadly she is not alone, it is amazing how many merits are still awarded / recognised every year so long after the events.

    But captain a winning football team, or pull off an amazing drop kick in the closing seconds of a rugby game and you'll get your gong a bit quicker!
    Strange priority if you ask me.

    Obviously any member of an England team who singlehandedly beats an Australian team at any sport deserves an award.

    Something even sadder.

    IIRC, ten years ago she had to pay her own fare and expenses to go to the 50th Anniv. "bash" in France.

    Well I do have to agree it is pretty rare that England can beat us colonials at anything!!!!!

    the problem is with many "heros" is that they really dont like speaking about their exploits. Therefore they go unnoticed.

    My old french teacher at school had worked for MI9 in France and spent two years in a concentration camp. We only found out when Airey Neaves book came out and the teacher acknowledged it was him that was mentioned in the book.

    it was later confirmed by a Air commodore who was also inside Buchenwald and remembered him.
