From what I can see online, the two younger brothers were born in Hexham, the eldest in India. It looks like the family had its roots in Hexham (Northumberland), although Kemerton (Worcestershire) is mentioned by CWGC as their parents residence in 1942/44.

Capt John Surtess Atkinson (1916-1942) - Find A...

Lieut Robert Norman Atkinson (1921-1944) - Find A...
Lieut Leonard Atkinson (1923-1944) - Find A Grave...

Although possibly Commissioned into the SWB, it is likely that Leonard was actually serving with a different regiment when killed. I will do more research on this.

My daughter was born in Hexham and so, I feel a connection with this thread...

Edit: It looks like Leonard was serving with the 2nd Bn The Kings Liverpool Regiment, 28th Infantry Brigade, 4th Infantry Division: WO 373 Awards WO 373/10 which lost 12 other men killed that day and also buried at Meldola + another of the 14/11/1944.
