My father was stationed in Trinidad. He was in Hq & Hq Co 33 Inf. He told me his ship was hit and he was injured. Later transferred to La Garde GH, New Orleans according to Special Orders dated December 27,1942. He was told me he carried a dinner tray for President Roosevelt. I was too young and foolish to listen then. Now that I want to know more, I cannot find out anything. Can anyone direct me to where I can find out about a hospital ship being hit by a torpedo, Roosevelt being where my father could have taken a tray for him, and about his unit. He was inducted in September of 1942 and went to Camp Shelby.
