    Hello
I am trying to find out the movements of the 13 Reserve MT Coy RASC between December 1940 and June 1941 inclusive and from September 1941 onwards. War diaries are missing and service record of my Dad is short on detail. I have nothing to date to suggest they were in Crete but:

I believe they sailed January 1941 from Liverpool to Suez arriving March (Convoy WS5B). I have found the attached extract on another forum, “David Smith was a driver with 13MT Reserve Coy, RASC and was captured in Crete in 1941”, on the national ex-prisoner of war association site, and ask if anyone can advise if 13 MT Reserve Coy RASC could be 13 Reserve MT Coy – and if so their route to Crete and involvement, or a different allied Company. I have posted asking for more detail but received no reply to date.

I understand troops were deployed to Greece and Crete from Egypt but can find no record of 13 RMT Coy but several to Misc RASC Coys. Can anyone shed light on this for me please.

    Thank you

    Brian

Brian - depnding on 13 MT Coy's movements, were they perhaps deployed to Greece then evacuated to Crete? Or he ended up there with an "odds'n'sods" evacuation group?

Hi phylo_roadking; its possible - problem I have is that war diary ends in November 1940 in Chester and picks up again at kilo 69 Bagush in July 1941. This provides ample time to have gone to Greece, evacuate to Crete and then back to Egypt given the speed of that encounter.

If I could confirm the two Coys are the same involvement in this encounter would be a big step forward in starting to fill this gap.

    Thank you Brian
