I am trying to assist an old gent with information about his father who was in WW2 as a Royal Marine. 101928 Alfred Michael Hodgson, Royal Marine all that the gent knows was that his dad Alfred was born about 1917, married in 1939 and that whilst in the RM did 3 months in Southsea. He thinks with no evidence that he may have been there training for the cockle shell hero’s. He does get a little confused and said in the film that when the names were called out his dads name was amongst them. 1) can anybody assist with any information on Alfred please 2) is there a roll call of the CSHeros anywhere. Thanks very much for any assistance
There is loads about Operation Frankton on the Internet. The men are named in this link - Operation Frankton - the "Cockleshell Heroes" The Jose Ferrer film is regularly on TV. Steve
