I am looking for the War Diary of 2 Dog Platoon from May 1945 - October 1945, (WO/171/5377) but especially for august 1945. It seems that on the 13th August members of this platoon attended a funeral of a civilian mine-clearer in DIEPENVEEN in the Netherlands. The men was killed on 8th August 1945 by a German Riegelmine. Another possibility s that it where members of 66 Field Coy R.E. But there is no War diary of this unit for 1945.
No War Diary but can help with locations: 2 Dog Platoon 1 Jul 45 – 1 Canadian Army Troops – Line of Communication – disbanded 1 Nov 45 Utrecht-NL – Wageningen-NL 7 Aug 45 – Snippeling-NL 6 Sep 45 66 Field Company 1 Jul 45 – attached Chief Engineer 1 Canadian Corps – Line of Communication 5 Jul 45 – disbanded 10 Nov 45 Voorburg-NL – The Hague-NL 7 Aug 45 21st Army Group later British Army of the Rhine (under construction)
