Hi all. Been trying to decipher a R.A.F. service record for an air gunner. It states he is sent to No.14 Initial Training Wing at Bridlington, then 6 weeks later to the Elementary Air Gunners School, also at Bridlington. Was the Air Gunners School actually at No.14 Initial Training Wing?? Thanks very much for reading. Mark

    No separate establishments and purpose.

ITW was for all aviation candidates - brought standard of education up to basic level for trade - then gave first ground school classes in appropriate skill before being sent to further training. That way establishment down line got students with same minimum level of appropriate background knowledge to speed up course.
