I am trying to find out more about my late father Peter O'Neill who was in the Welsh Guards. He enlisted in Cardiff before the outbreak of WW2 and was stationed at Buckingham Palace. I think he saw service in France and that he drove tanks. Any help would be appreciated.

If not, I'd recommend that you do, in order to first ascertain with which battalion he served and when. Alternatively you could try and find a copy of the Welsh Guards WW2 History http://www.naval-military-press.com/welsh-guards-at-war.html If he was in an armoured battalion he could have served with 2nd Battalion Welsh Guards of Guards Armoured Division. Did he talk about the liberation of Brussels for example?
Thanks for this info. I will contact RHQ Welsh Guards. He never talked of his time in the army, it was an uncle in the family who said my father had been in Normandy.
