what Canadian cap badge is like a Staffordshire knot as worn by Capt VGJ Thrupp ?

    I'm usually ok at IDIng cap badges but this one has stumped me.

    I'm reading 'Artist at War' by Charles Comfort at the moment.

    Plate 1 is of Capt V.G.J. Thrupp I.O 1st Cdn Div.
    It looks like his cap badge is a Staffordshire knot.

    Rest of the cap badges in the book are IDable but I cant find this one.

    I think your problem is you're looking in the wrong army ;)

    If you go down to the bottom of page 17, you'll see that Capt. V. G. J Thrupp was the Italian speaking representative of the British Intelligence Corps at HQ 1st CDN Division so he was a British officer not a Canadian one.
    So I'm betting his original regiment was one of the Staffordshire ones.

    ah good shout, just reading that Captain KA Cottam , British Intelligence Officer , was attched to 1 Cdn Div too.
