Hello , probably a tall order but here goes . I wondered if it was possible to find out which beach a William Wringrose or possibly Ringrose } Arnold landed on on D Day . He was with the RASC .. Any help much appreciated . Regards Alan
Alan Any idea which Division or Brigade he was attached to? Assuming he actually landed on D Day itself - which you appear to confirm - that narrows the field very significantly. Have you got access to his Service Records or is your information, for example, verbal? Is he still alive? Apart from D Day, have any place names etc been mentioned? You clearly appreciate your question is very broad and this could easily consume a lot of time and still not come up with a definite answer.
Hello , I had a text from my son in law who is his grandson and they are over in France at present and thought it would be nice to walk the beach where he landed . He died in 1998 and I suggested maybe appying for his service records which of course will take time and they will be back in UK then . I can't really add anymore to that at present . Regards Alan
Alan Understood. Sounds like research required and return trip next year - any excuse to visit Normandy is a good excuse
First name(s) WILLIAM WRINGROSE Last name ARNOLD Gender Male Birth day 16 Birth month 10 Birth year 1913 Age - Death quarter 4 Death year 1998 District Mid Warwickshire District number 7751B Register number B38B Entry number 276 Date of registration mm/yy 1298 County Warwickshire Country England
My initial Googling "RASC D DAY" came up with this, could be a starting point but there is a lot of research for you to do. Like some others I would advise a return trip next year. Anyhow link below, it mentions Juno Beach and then Bernieres Sur Mer for this particular group from RASC. Best of luck. That is one persons recollection of where they were on D Day - as I understand it the RASC were used on all 5 beaches, really would suggest you obtain his service records otherwise it will all be guesswork. We have members on here who can probably tie him down to a particuler ship, but records will be the key From the Trux section of this forum found using the excellent search facility of this site Non transport units rasc Motor transport units rasc others - http://ww2talk.com/index.php?search/4095793/&q=rasc+d+day&o=relevance TD
Thank you , I will get him to get the application under way when they return from France . Regards Alan
