Wilfred Cole - Royal Signals Despatch Rider - Tripoli

Hi All,

I'm trying to find out about a relative's grandfather and in particular anything I can about his war.

His name was Wilfred Cole and I have been told by the family he was a despatch rider in the Royal Signals and that they are fairly sure he served in Tripoli, I have suggested they apply for his record.

I have managed to find him in the 1939 register which says he was born in 1917 in Houghton Le Spring, County Durham and I know he survived the war but that is about all I can find on him.

Can anyone throw any light on his story?
