William Dick Wilding, Royal Navy, C/SSX18460, 1919-1973, was one of possibly only seven survivors from HMS Li-Wo which made an epic but suicidal attack on a Japanese convoy in February 1942. Obviously he served on HMS Li-Wo and probably on the Singapore Drill Ship and RNR HQ, HMS Laburnum. I am keen to trace as many of his other postings during his long Royal Navy service as possible. I would appreciate any help forum members can offer.

Forgot to add - service records are only available from the MOD - the link for the forms is here Request records of deceased service personnel

Plus you have above his death certificate details as you will need to send a copy with the MOD forms

Thank you for the links. My interest was aroused as his wife, Joyce Marion Fuller, is a fourth cousin of mine.

From 1959 to 1972 the couple ran the Rose in the Valley pub in Chatham

It says about the public house in one of the links, if you need his ship list though then obtaining his service records is the way to go

This is my dad and a lot of the info shared is from my Ancestry tree, Wilding/Fuller. I have a list of his other ships somewhere. I’ll see if I can find it.

Welcome to the forum tula. I believe that we are probably 4th cousins once removed. My interest in William Dick Wilding and HMS Li Wo was sparked by finding a family connection through research on "Ancestry".
