I thought a good website to draw your attention to would be the WRVS site. This organisation is 75 years old and still growing. Some of you researching women in World War 2 might like to know that they have an archive which can be searched. The website is www.wrvs.org.uk/about-us/our-history.
Although mainly thought of as a UK based service, there were branches in India and Pakistan at that time. The archive has an UNESCO award for their collection of narrative reports which are considered of historical importance. The organisation also holds a Roll of Honour for its volunteers who were killed in the War.
