    Hello Sky,

The German Wikipedia 'lighter' article (Microsoft machine translation here) shows something like that as a petrol model but with precious little to date its inception. However, before WW2 seems reasonable to my inexpert eyes - esp. considering "the first Zippo lighter in early 1933, being inspired by an Austrian cigarette lighter of similar design."

    everyone can say that

Yes, and some might even fake it but there you're getting into the antiques discipline of demanding provenance. Assuming none and no dateable hallmarks to help, a WW2 reenactor might be glad of it for looking the part - some war movies contain far greater anachronisms after all.

No markings at all? I would be shy of buying it, this was a common type of fuel and wick lighters as I used to buy in the 60s in SW Europe, so it may and may not be WW2.

You might want to try posting over on the Axis History Forum in their Militaria and Collecting section. I'm sure someone there would be able to help you out.

It is original. My grand-grandfather took the same lighter from dead german in Ukraine during WW2
