The Anglia had water in front and rear passenger footwells when it rained, but it was self-draining ! Photos show Vespa from Museum of London similar to mine but mine did not have the spare wheel attachment: and desireable cars - to me, anyway - from the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden, near Biggleswade. Up the A1: car enthusiasts and motorcyclists often go there for coffee.
This is exactly the same style, year and colour of my first Austin A40. But, mine didn't have Spotlights and badges. A Superb car which I had for over a year. Then one Saturday within a local village, at some difficult crossroads, a Citroen 2 CV pulled straight across in front of us, we hit it ! None of us were wearing seat belts, my girlfriend and her Sister both hit the windscreen, blood appeared from my girlfriends head. The lady in the 2 CV had to get out of her passengers door and started screaming at us despite the injury for all to see. And she was a Nurse just coming home from Stoke Mandeville Hospital ........ Her car was a Write-Off ! My Good Ol' Solid A40 had a slight kink in the nearside wing, and a small dent in the bumper, otherwise perfectly driveable No Police involved, and it was deemed Her Fault !
1962 Rambler Station wagon my first car, bought when I was 17. Before you laugh, the front seats laid back flat with the backseat, making a respectable ... resting area for me and the young lady. Lot of drive-in movie time, don't ask me what was playing, we had no idea.
Triumph Tiger Cub T20 SH when I was 17 and all my mates has FS1Es. Always been happier living in the past.
