Hi all, I would like to know more about the 1st Dorsets experience from D-DAY+1 through to Holland in October 1944. I am particularly interested in the actions they fought in Normandy and their involvement in Market Garden. Unfortunately their War Diary doesn't seem to have been uploaded on to Ancestry just yet. If anyone has any information I'd love to hear. Kind Regards Emps
I suggest this book. THREE ASSAULT LANDINGS The Story Of The 1st Bn. The Dorsetshire Regiment In Sicily, Italy And N.W. Europe - Naval & Military Press
It does not seem to be available as an e-book. There is a transcribed extract here, from a file at the archives, covering D-Day in Normandy to June 13 or so. NORMANDY 1st Bn The Dorsetshire Regiment (an extract from "Three Assault Landings")
It is available at Amazon as paperback. There are several hardcover copies, among which a 1st edition, for sale on Abebooks as well.
