Hello I'm searching for some more information of this battalion who went through france. Is here someone who has a (regimental?) diary of this battalion? Where were they between +/- 15th of May till 4th of June? Which villages they went through, some details of the battles... Thanks in advance Tommy
I would have recommended obtaining the Story of the Wiltshire Regiment by KENRICK. Published by Gale & Polden. But to be quite frank, its crap. That is putting it politley. Three quarters of the book covers the period 1756-1939. It may be wise to make contact with Andy- aka Drew5233. I'm sure he will be able to help you out with the war diaries that may have more detail? Edit.. He only charges 10 pence a page. How cheap is that? Regards Stu.
Rich Payne is another chap who has a great deal of knowledge on this period. I cant help you out any more. Lets hope these chaps come on board & give you the info you require? All the best in your research. Stu.
You can read their transcribed war diaries here. War Diaries - The Wardrobe housing The Rifles Berkshire and Wiltshire Museum or buy this. The Wiltshire Regiment in the Second World War - 2nd Battalion - The Wardrobe housing The Rifles Berkshire and Wiltshire Museum
You are famous I follow your FB page... Many thanx to all of you. I'm also looking for war diaries of north staffordshire regiment 2nd battalion... Anyone can help? Which villages they went through, some details of the battles...
Nice one Owen. One is going off the thread here. But I do remember looking at this site when i was chasing a original copy of the 10th Battalion the Berkshire Regiment. Some silly moneys was paid for this rare book. But worth it. Tommy, I cant quite remember what the History of the North Staffs is called? I know it costs a bomb. I have seen copy's going for a mortgage. I think Dryan67 has a copy? From time to time he has come up with the goods. Stu.
