Yes, there were Aussies, Indians, Free French, Arabs, and Palmach all attacking the Vichy from different points, with another British force attacking from Iraq in the East. My dad was a driver with the 2nd Y&L , but said he often found himself fighting alongside Anzac troops. He told me a story of driving a lorry in a convoy towards Damascus the day before it was handed over on the 21st June. The British 16th Infantry Brigade were shipped out as re-inforcements from Egypt to Syria on the 18th. Perhaps he was seconded to drive in this convoy.
