6th Seaforth were part of 17 Brigade, 5th Division. In May 1940 they held positions in Belgium, and then on the Scarpe near Arras. They moved to Ypres as the left hand battalion of the British line, but when the Belgian army surrendered they had to fall back to Dunkirk. After a Long rearguard action what was left of them were evacuated on 1st June.
