what does the M T stand for? and connected with this 2nd M T Battalion, what does "Draft Serial RAGHG" mean and stand for? Thanks
It could also be 'Motor Training' - what regiment was the man concerned in? Edit: I see from your other posts he was 2 RB, so that will be 2nd Motor Training Battalion. That was at Ranby, Lincs for most, if not all, of the war. The draft code was just a means of identifying a group of soldiers moving overseas. Somewhere here it was mentioned that it related to the ports/stops along the route, but I don't know how.
idler - so when you say about the group of soldiers relating to stops, is this what the RAGHG bit means?
I think the the bit about 'relating to stops' is my memory playing up. A post here by one of our veterans sums it up: the code was your 'ticket'.
