A C47 from this unit crashed near Rhenen whilst on route to DZ Y to drop men of the 11th Parachute Battalion as part of Market Garden..... It is reported that the crew chief Sergeant R Eastman although wounded in the crash or even before as the aircraft was hit by flak, he was murdered by a Dutch SS soldier who was apparently sentenced to death after the war.....anyone got any more info on this war crime?
