Hello, I am looking for information on the 427 Night Fighter Squadron. I am not sure if this is the correct section, but I know they were active in Burma. My grandfather was a corporal and trying to find some information about the group of guys and him. Thank you and sorry if this is posted in the wrong section.

    Hi, welcome to the forum.

Have you had a look here: Air Force Historical Research Agency - Home

Also what is your Grandfather's name, there are so many sources of information available to the members of the forum, the more information you can provide, the more we can bounce back.

Thanks for that link, I read through there the other day. I think what I'm looking for, I may not be able to find. the one thing that I would really like to know is what his job in the 427th was.

    For Mark92

If your grandfather was from East St Lewis, Ill. his MOS was 345 and his ASN was 36442746.

If you can get a copy of the History of the 427th NFS by Bob Sucke it has several pictures, two that include your grandfather.

The Patch: The background suggests the night sky in which the squadron flies, while the red violet and light green rings represent twilight and early morning, and day, respectively. The black border indicates the Squadron's primary mission--night flighter operations. The spider web refers to the type of aircraft flown by the squadron and the fighter control net with which it works. The broken target depicts the fire power of the P-61 and their aggressiveness is implied by the lightning flashes
