    For the sake of clarity and exactitude you should be aware that the primary and major activity of any Recce Regiment was to "Observe and Report" back to - generally Division HQ in order that the planners there could arrange their fighting troops and supplies for the next battle.

    There is no question that they did get involved in fighting but not as a primary function as the thousands of graves in every theatre give silent testimony owing mainly to the fact that they were indeed to the forefront of any
    battle.

    Many times they were called on to fight as Infantry and Armour usually in the absence or shortage of regular troops, and as such the functions were often blurred...
