703 Armd. Div. Troops Carrying Coy RASC Do you know which division they were attached to? For me probably 11th armoured division crossing their roll of honor with the cgwc data but there is no mention of them in their Order of Battle.

They appear on 8 Corps documentation for May 45, have the location of Bollingstedt north-west of Schleswig for 12 May 45, the same as HQ RASC 11 Armoured Division so clearly attached them, researching RASC post VE Day at the moment, a difficult task! 21st Army Group later British Army of the Rhine (under construction)
Wow very interesting research topic. Thank you very much for your confirmation, I will try to find out from when 703 Armd. Div. Troops Coy. joined the division and if they replaced another unit. I will also try to find if they did not make a mistake for the unit of Driver T/142044 WOOD LEONARD MAURICE 28/02/1945 Royal Army Service Corps 103 Armd. Div. Transport Coy. (? 703 ?) Quotes from Index to Field Force Units, Part II - Index by Arms etc. - A.7214-2, May 1944 (TNA: WO 33-2226): 103 is not mentioned "287 (Armd Div Tpt)" serial No. "30837(a)-(h)" "703 (Corps Tpt)" serial No. "36893(a)-(g)" The (number of) letters may give a hint to the number of sub-units. From the War Establishments for "Headquarters of a Mechanical Transport Company, R.A.S.C.": "Designed to command and administer 2 - 5 transport platoons, R.A.S.C. One or more relief driver increments ... will be added to provide additional drivers and/or loaders. Commodity platoons will be provided according to the role allotted to the unit."
Driver T/10692299 THOMSON WILLIAM RUDDIMAN 03/08/1944 284 Division Composite Company His name appears in Taurus Pursuant but his unit is part of the 15th scottish and is attached at his death to the 8th corps https://www.15thscottishdivisionwar...d/29af12_a629c6fa3de2440ba9f041464549f9ba.pdf I wonder what are the circumstances that led him to be considered as a member of the division. Was attached to the 11th armoured at the time, or an error on the cgwc record on his unit 284 for 287 RASC?
British Army units from 1945 on - 103 Armoured Transport Regiment RASC (TA) For the 103 I only found this website, however it seems that the unit was formed in 1947 which would mean that it is an error on the cgwc and that he would have been 703 RASC.
By May 45 there was a change 287 Company (Army Transport) – (General Transport) 26 Sep 45 – last record 5 Apr 46 disbanded? 703 (Armoured Division Troop Carrying) Company – 8 Corps from 11 Jun 45 8 Corps District Troops – disbanded 30 Nov 45 21st Army Group later British Army of the Rhine (under construction)
The ST (Supplies/Transport) 8 Corps Order of Battle of up to the 5 December 1944 lists 703 Coy RASC (Corps Tpt) as being part of CRASC 8 C Tps. The 9 January 1945 S&T 8 Corps Order of Battle (and the following ones at least up to 14 June 1945 ) lists 703 Coy RASC (Armd Div Tp Carrying) as being part of CRASC 11 Armd Div. So it seems that the company changed role in Dec/Jan 45 and joined 11 Armd Div. Another orbat gives an AoS number of 85. At the same time, 704 Coy RASC (Corps Tpt) of 12 Corps changed to 704 Coy RASC (Armd Div Tp Carrying) with Guards Armd Div, and 507 Coy RASC (Armd Bde) of 7 Armd Div changed to 507 Coy RASC (Armd Div Troop Carrying). Hi, In August 1944, according to WO171/301 – 8 Corps S&T Branch, 703 Coy RASC (Corps Transport) were under 8 Corps. Regards Tom
